Give your game a boost of confidence with Approach G5, a rugged, waterproof, touchscreen golf GPS packed with thousands of preloaded golf course maps. Approach uses a high-sensitivity GPS receiver to measure individual shot distances and show the exact yardage to fairways, hazards and greens.

Question: Is the Approach G5 compliant with USGA rules?

Answer:

Yes, the Approach G5 is compliant with United States Golf Association rules.

Question: What is Touch Targeting on the Approach G5 and how do I use it?

Answer:

The map page of the Approach G5 shows an overview of the current hole that is being played. The user is able to pan the map and view the distance to the middle of the green or any other point on the map.

To use Touch Targeting:

Go to the Map Page
Touch anywhere on the display to set the Target Distance
Touch and drag your finger to position the red Target Circle

The distance to the Target Circle is now shown, as well as the distance from the Target Circle to the center of the green. Touch Done to return to the map view of the hole.

Question: Will my Approach G5 device keep track of my score during play?

Answer:

The Approach G5 allows up to four players scores to be recorded during play, however the Approach G5 will only save the last game played. Once a new game is began, the previous game is saved to the internal memory and may only be viewed by connecting the device to a computer and selecting the Approach G5 as a separate drive. Once the drive is selected, double click the Scorecard Viewer and the previous recorded games may be viewed.

Question: What part of the green does the Approach G5 calculate distance to?

Answer:

Because pin locations change, the Approach calculates the distance to the middle of the green.

Question: How long is the battery life in the Approach G5?

Answer:

The battery life in the Approach G5 lasts up to 15 hours.

Question: How is the Approach golf course data collected?

Answer:

When using a GPS device for the game of golf accurate course detail is key to mastering the game and the course.

The Approach golf course data is collected from satellite imagery which is then digitized for the best possible detail.

As new courses are added and changes to existing courses are made, free updates will be made available for download.

I just received my pre-order Approach yesterday (and of course, I had to get out and play a quick nine today), and all I have to say is WOW! This product is incredibly accurate and versitile. I am amazed at the course layout and presentation, and the ease of use, and the touchscreen, and the COLOR display, and I could go on and on; this is one great unit!
And a big thank you to TGH Aviation for being so helpful and friendly throughout the course of my purchase. Each member of their sales team that I spoke with competely blew me away with their apparent dedication to quality customer service. In this era of online purchases and anonymous order takers, I have to say it was absolutely wonderful to actually speak to a live person that was intent on giving me advice, information, attention, and, ultimately, the confidence to complete my purchase.
